The institute is funded by people who believe a clearer kind of public reasoning is worth paying for. Every dollar funds open research, public writings, and free software — released under Creative Commons.
The institute publishes everything it can: the research, the doctrine, the writings, the software. None of it sits behind a paywall, because clear public reasoning that costs money to read is no longer public. Donations keep it that way.
We run lean. The bulk of the budget goes to writers, researchers, and engineers — the people doing the actual work. We publish a colophon every year that shows where the money came in and where it went out, with line-item detail. We will hold ourselves to the same standard of transparency we ask of governance.
Online giving is being set up with a payment processor that respects donor privacy. In the meantime, please write to us at the address in the footer if you would like to support the institute directly.
